Not so much obvious week as a sub-editor having a laugh with a pun.
Is pun week done yet, perhaps.
I would be in good spirits after a week locked in a bar, too. Unless of course they mean he was floating in good spirits. That would be a shocking waste of fine alcohol. And probably not as enjoyable for the poor bloke, either.
