We’ve reached a milestone here at Criggo: the next post will be the 3,500th post! That’s right, 3,500 of gaffes, miscues, typos, and mistakes in newspapers. And yes, there are many more to come.
Criggo has been around since September 2008! How about that! At first, we had just one post a day. Then two, and now THREE posted each and every day. Newspapers may be going away, but the mistakes keep happening.
Thanks to the diehards who visit often, thanks to those of you who visit just once, thanks to all of you! If you have saved any newspaper articles with errors, send them on along to us – we’ll post them and give you credit. Thanks also to those of you who have contributed in the past – there are too many of you to count.
Thanks also to those websites that highlight a Criggo post once and a while, especially Miss Cellania, Bits & Pieces, Presurfer, Boing Boing, Reddit, Huffington Post, Metafilter, New Zealand Herald, PC Magazine, Digital Journal, Neatorama, Syracuse Post-Standard, Goatless, New Hampshire Public Radio, and Funny2.
To celebrate the event, we’ll be highlighting the very first 22 posts that found their way here onto Criggo. Every morning at 6 AM PDT (that’s 1 PM GMT) from now until April Fool’s Day (appropriate, eh?) you’ll see a bit of history.
Thanks once again for visiting Criggo!

Hi guys
I just wanted to say a VERY big Thank You for all your hard work over the years. I have been the school librarian at a high school in Pretoria, South Africa and my English teachers LOVE the stuff I pass on to them from you. Thanks especially for keeping an eye out for the stuff that’s slightly off-kilter and weird as well as the real, howlers and typos-those are my favorites…esp the Police Blotter type material…but it’s all good. Please, please keep up the good work-there are folk from all over the world who appreciate your efforts. (oh, and I also pass on the bits and pieces I collect to. other school Librarians whose language teachers are equally grateful!
Take care and happy trawling, Andrew van Zyl (Librarian for St Albans College, Pretoria)
